Feeling bogged down by repetitive marketing tasks? Let’s explore how marketing automation can streamline your efforts and free up your time for more strategic activities so that you can solve bigger problems. Hi. I’m Michael Pacheco, a fractional CMO specializing in the health tech and tech industries. Today, I wanna guide you through the concept of marketing automation and how it can transform your marketing strategy. Marketing automation refers to using software and, of course, technology to automate repetitive marketing tasks, specifically repetitive being the keyword there. These tasks can include things like cold email campaigns, social media posting, lead nurturing, things like that. The goal is to improve efficiency, save time, improve effectiveness by automating these processes. Let’s discuss the benefits of marketing automation.
Michael Pacheco [00:01:28]:
Implementing automation in your marketing efforts offers a number of key advantages here. I’ve got 4 of them. 1 is enhanced efficiency. Automation handles repetitive tasks, as I mentioned before. So, again, cold emails, social media campaigns, data analysis, things like that, which allows your team to focus on bigger problems, solving bigger problems, strategic problems, or one off tasks. And let the computers, let the automation, let the ones and zeros handle that stuff that this the same thing over and over again. Number 2, improved lead management. Automation can help you in capturing, nurturing, and specifically scoring leads more effectively.
Michael Pacheco [00:02:08]:
What that does is it’s going to ensure that your team, your your marketing team, and more specifically, your sales team is gonna be more focused on the most promising prospects. Right? The prospects with the highest engagement, the prospects that are most likely to purchase from you. So you’re not spinning your wheels on tire kickers. Numero trace. Personalized marketing. With automation, you can segment your audience and deliver personalized content based on their behavior and preferences, increasing engagement and conversions. This has been proven time and time again when you personalize an offer, when you personalize marketing, when you personalize copy. If the person on the other end of that screen, assuming we’re talking about digital marketing here, if the person on the other end of that marketing, if they feel like you’re speaking directly to them, it’s gonna be a lot more powerful.
Michael Pacheco [00:02:57]:
I spoke to this yesterday about people buying from a place of emotion and being able to connect with people emotionally. Focusing your marketing, personalizing your marketing, and focusing it on a specific ICP, that’s ideal client profile. It’s gonna allow that person, those people, that ICP to really feel like you’re speaking directly to them. It’s gonna be more personalized. They’re gonna they’re gonna get a more emotional connection from that. K. We’re talking again about advantages of implementing automation. That was 3.
Michael Pacheco [00:03:26]:
Here’s number 4, better analytics and reporting. Automation platforms provide detailed analytics and reporting. And what that does quite simply is it helps you measure the effectiveness of your campaigns better, which then allows you to make data driven decisions. So you can adjust course, you can steer the ship based on actual data, based on things that are actually happening, not based on hunches, not based on gee, I wonder or I think. Right? Based on actual data. Super important. Good stuff. And it’s 2024.
Michael Pacheco [00:04:01]:
Okay. I’ve said this before. There’s no excuse not to be measuring things, not to be using data driven decision making at this point. K? So next, let’s look at some key tools and platforms that can help you get started with marketing automation. Number 1, I think it’s gonna be HubSpot. We’ve all probably heard of HubSpot. I hope HubSpot is fantastic platform that offers tools like email marketing, social media management, lead nurturing. Of course, they’ve got a fantastic CRM.
Michael Pacheco [00:04:31]:
They also have website tools, guys. You can put your your website landing pages. You’ve probably heard of ClickFunnels. HubSpot can do that kind of stuff as well. Another, alternative to HubSpot for all of those things would be GoHighLevel, and that is what we use at Boxer. That is what I use at Michael Pacheco Consulting. GoHighLevel is fantastic. Highly recommended.
Michael Pacheco [00:04:51]:
Number 2 is Marketo. Marketo is a powerful tool for lead management, email marketing, and campaign management with robust analytics capabilities. Now Marketo, it’s not as good as they maybe were 6, 7, 8, 10 years ago. They went through a little slump, but I still think that they are worth looking into. Pardot is great for b to b marketing. They can do automation around lead generation. Again, email marketing, reporting on ROI for those things, that sort of thing. Mailchimp is very basic, has very basic automation stuff around it that I think is useful for new businesses, right, new entrepreneurs who are maybe just starting out.
Michael Pacheco [00:05:31]:
If you’ve graduated if you’ve used Mailchimp and you feel like you’re you’ve graduated from it and you wanna more, I would recommend something like ActiveCampaign, maybe. And then for social media management, there’s a bunch of them. There’s Hootsuite. There’s Sprout Social. There’s probably 10 others that I’m forgetting the names of right now as I’m recording this. The one, that we use at Voxer, the one we’ve tested them all, we’ve tried them all, we’ve used them all, and the one that we keep going back to is Agorapulse. Agorapulse is just really fantastic at social media management. That’s it.
Michael Pacheco [00:06:03]:
They’re just they’re really great. They’re a little more expensive than the others, and there’s a reason for that. You get what you pay for. Now let’s go through some tips for implementing marketing automation effectively. Number 1, define your goals. Identify what it is you want to achieve with marketing automation. This could be increasing lead generation, improving customer engagement, enhanced reporting. Number 2, choose the right tools.
Michael Pacheco [00:06:25]:
So you wanna make sure you choose the right tools for your business, and that’s gonna depend on a lot of things. It’s gonna depend on your business needs. It’s gonna depend on your business size, scalability, how it integrates with existing systems that you’ve got in your tech stack, things like that. Number 3, create a strategy. So develop a a really comprehensive strategy that outlines how you’re going to use automation to achieve your goals. Like with anything else in marketing, I don’t want you to be doing automation for the sake of doing automation. The automation needs to serve a higher purpose. It needs to serve a business objective.
Michael Pacheco [00:07:02]:
Marketing too often is done because you think you just you need more leads. Marketing for the sake of market. We need more leads. We need more customers. Let’s think about it on a deeper level, and let’s think about what the specific business objectives are and how marketing can be a bridge from where we’re at to where we wanna go. Here’s the business objective. Here’s where we’re at today, and marketing can be the bridge to that. Right? And how you build that bridge is going to change depending on where you are.
Michael Pacheco [00:07:32]:
Number 4, implement and test. So you wanna set up your chosen tools, whatever it is you decide on wherever you land, and start implementing things. Pay attention to it, and test. Marketing is a fancy word for testing. Number 5, monitor and optimize. As you’re running through these tests, you’re implementing and you’re testing. You’re also then monitoring and optimizing. So you wanna look at the data that’s coming through, look for insights in there, adjust course, steer the ship, improve, optimize, etcetera.

Michael Pacheco [00:08:25]:
In conclusion, marketing automation can significantly streamline your marketing efforts. It makes it more effective and more efficient. By understanding what marketing is and recognizing its benefits by choosing the right tools, by implementing a strategic approach where it serves that business goal and you’re not just doing it for the sake of doing it, you can really take your marketing to the next level. So what I want you to do now is reflect on your current marketing processes, And I’ve got some questions for you. Number 1, are you able to manage repetitive tasks efficiently? Yes or no? And number 2, how effectively are you capturing and nurturing leads? Number 3, what tools could you integrate to enhance your marketing efforts? That’s the one that’s gonna take a little bit of research. So considering these questions, in my opinion, can help you identify areas where marketing automation can have the greatest impact for you and your company specifically. Again, it’s gonna be different for every company. If you’re struggling to select and implement marketing automation tools and systems, I’m here to help.
